Orphans

A New Family. A New Routine.

5:00 am is time to rise and shine. These kids wake up to morning devotions and the friendly smells of a hot breakfast. After breakfast each child hops into the shower and dresses for school. At 6:30 they leave home and head up the road to their school. The younger children are provided age appropriate training in the 3Rs, reading, writing and arithmetic. The older kids are given vocational training. While the children concentrate on their studies, the house mom takes care of the laundry, washes the dishes, mops the floors and works in the garden. When the younger kids return home, mom serves them a hot lunch (the older kids eat their lunch at school.). When the big kids finish their schooling, they return home somewhere between 5 and 6:30 pm. While dinner is being prepared, the kids work on homework, help mom with chores and play the occasional game of soccer. At 7 or 8pm dinner is served. Afterwards, the kids get ready for bed, trade hugs with mom and say their prayers.
